The following was passed along to SGS from the Office of External Affairs.  This appears to be a legitimate scholarship opportunity - and a very good one at that.  Please pass this along to any students you think might be interested who are also permanent residents of the capital region.  Applications must be received by May 16.  Please see the links below for details:

I am the founder and CEO of CommerceHub, a 200-person software company headquartered in Albany.  Our customers include the top online retailers like QVC, Staples, Walmart, Home Depot and many others.

I am writing to you because I want to create a climate of entrepreneurship in the Capital Region that encourages the brightest minds to stay in the area after graduation.  In support of this, we are offering a $10,000 scholarship competition aimed at identifying two Capital Region college students who best exemplify the traits of entrepreneurship: vision, out-of-the-box thinking, the ability to see past obstacles, unbridled energy, leadership, and passion.  This is not your typical scholarship program — we do not care about GPAs or SAT Scores, and we are open to students from all majors.  The only criteria is a great idea and a desire to succeed.

We will showcase the winning students at the end of May, and I wanted to ensure that your students had an opportunity to be represented.  I hope that you will do me the favor of forwarding this to them.
